![]() Bill Grossis the Founder and CEO of Energy Innovations, an original concept developed at Idealab. Bill also founded Idealab and has served as its Chairman of the Board and CEO since its formation in March 1996. In the intervening time, Idealab founded more than 40 companies. Prior to Idealab, he started a number of companies, including GNP Development Inc., which he sold in 1985 to Lotus Development Corporation, where he subsequently served as a software entrepreneur. In 1991, Bill started Knowledge Adventure, an educational software publisher that was eventually sold to Havas Vivendi. Bill has a BS in engineering from Caltech and currently serves on the board of that institution.![]() Mark Henderson, Executive Vice President of Engineering, heads the company's entire engineering and product development efforts. Mark has over 25 years of experience in technology product development and global company management. He was previously COO of OEwaves, a JPL/Caltech spin-off developing a micro-optic laser oscillator for volume manufacturing. Prior to that, he was president and COO of Ameritec, a private telecom test equipment manufacturer, and vice president of engineering at Transtream and director of engineering at Tekelec, both telecom manufacturers. Mark received his BS in electrical engineering from University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa.![]() Steve Chadimais Executive Vice President of External Affairs, responsible for the company's marketing communications, regulatory and legislative efforts. He joined the company from Idealab, where he was vice president of marketing. Steve has been involved with technology start-ups for more than 20 years both as an advisor and as a co-founder or early employee. He has been involved with the solar and renewables industries since the 1980s when he managed a highly acclaimed program of low-interest loans for energy efficiency and renewable energy projects for homes and businesses for the City of Portland, Oregon and later served as general manager of a nonprofit corporation in Portland providing services and financial incentives for energy conservation, solar and alternative energy technologies to residents and businesses. Steve has a BA in mathematical and computer modeling from UC Irvine and an MBA from Stanford University.![]() Dr. Bill Bottenberg, Vice President of Quality Assurance, is a 25-year veteran of the solar industry. He was most recently vice president of sales and marketing at EcoEnergies, a renewable power systems company. Bill joined there from Photovoltaics International, where he led both development and manufacturing efforts on a concentrator-collector solar system. As president of AstroPower Canada, the largest manufacturer of PV modules in Canada, he took over the company in a turn-around situation, stabilized finances, developed sales and managed the turnover of the company to new investors. He assumed this position after five years at AstroPower Inc., where he was director of manufacturing engineering and director of operations. Prior to AstroPower, he was the director of research and advanced development and solar cell production manager at ARCO Solar, leading the production of the first megawatt of solar cell fabrication at that company. Bill holds a BA in physical chemistry from UC Riverside, a MS in physical chemistry and chemical thermodynamics from Cal State Long Beach, and a PhD in physical chemistry and molecular electro-optics from UC Riverside. |
