Concentrating solar systems only respond to direct rays of the sun. They cannot take advantage of diffuse light, such as you experience on a cloudy day or when the humidity is extremely high. As a result the Sunflower will be most advantageous in the southwestern parts of the US and parts of Hawaii - those areas on the map that are yellow-orange or darker (5.0 kWh/m2/day of direct normal solar radiation or greater) and similar areas around the world. ![]() |

The Sunflower is designed for the specific needs of large commercial installations and requires a flat area for mounting and proximity to grid access. We may consider adapting this technology for use in residential settings in the future, but at least initially, all of our installations will be focused on non-residential customers. In the geographical areas shown above, the Sunflower can be used to reduce the cost of PV-based systems designed to feed large volumes of electricity into the grid, as well as increase the amount of energy generated per Watt of installed capacity. |
