is the CEO of Energy Innovations and brings more than 25 years of corporate
leadership experience to the company. He began his career leading engineering teams at
Motorola, where he was awarded five U.S. patents and several innovation awards, and
then joined The Boston Consulting Group where he focused on developing and implementing
market entry strategies for Fortune 100 companies. In 1994, Budano served as General
Manager for Wavetek, a $70 million producer of communication equipment, where he
ultimately led all North American Operations for the then $500 million Wavtek Wandel Goltermann. In 2000, he was appointed Group President
for Acterna Corporation, a $1.2 billion private equity backed communications test company
and in 2002 he took over as CEO of Elgar Electronics, a private equity backed supplier
of power electronic equipment. Mr. Budano successfully led the turnaround and growth of Elgar and
sold the company in 2007 to Xantrex Technologies. Mr. Budano holds a BSME from Boston
University and an MBA with distinction from J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management
at Northwestern University.
is the Founder of Energy Innovations, an
original concept developed at Idealab. Bill also founded Idealab and has served as its Chairman of the Board and CEO since its formation
in March 1996. In the intervening time, Idealab founded more than 40 companies. Prior to Idealab, he started a number of companies,
including GNP Development Inc., which he sold in 1985 to Lotus Development Corporation, where he subsequently served as a software
entrepreneur. In 1991, Bill started Knowledge Adventure, an educational software publisher that was eventually sold to Havas Vivendi.
Bill has a BS in engineering from Caltech and currently serves on the board of that institution.
, Ph.D. has been a Director of Idealab since March
2002. Dr. Morgan was President, Idealab New York from March 2000 to June 2001 and was a Vice Chairman until December 2002. Since 1989, Dr. Morgan
has served as President of Arca Group, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in the areas of computers and communications technologies. Dr.
Morgan was a Professor of Decision Sciences at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Professor of Computer Science
at the Moore School of the University of Pennsylvania from 1972 through 1986. He serves as a Director for a number of public
companies, including Franklin Electronic Publishers, Inc., Predictive Systems and Segue Software, Inc. Dr. Morgan received his Ph.D.
in operations research from Cornell University and his B.S. in Physics from the City University of New York.
is General Partner with Mohr Davidow Ventures.
Erik joined MDV in 1998 and specializes in investing in and building energy, materials and software companies. Prior to MDV, Erik worked
at Interval Research Corp., a technology incubator funded by Paul Allen, and at Los Alamos National Laboratory as a technical staff member.
He also consulted to several seed and early stage venture capital firms. While pursuing a PhD in mechanical engineering at Stanford, Erik
led an interdisciplinary project between the electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering departments to develop a next-generation
monitoring system for critical facilities. He holds a U.S. patent from his research work. From 1996 to 1998, he served as president
of the Business Association of Stanford Engineering Students (BASES), Stanford's largest student group focused on entrepreneurship
and technology management.
